Alice
Subjects: Mathematics, Science Enrichment
“When my daughter ‘Alice’ (name changed for privacy) switched to a different school at 5 years of age, the teacher at her new school informed me she seemed to be a little behind her peers in math. I was shocked! How could she already be behind!? I was very concerned she might adopt an “I’m just not good at math” mindset in the new setting – and I reached out to Gregory for support. I stressed that the aim was to help her get additional practice with math while keeping the sessions fun. We found board and other non-electronic games that kept her engaged.
Over the years, Gregory adapted to her age and needs. This included inserting activities related to coding, soldering, science experiments and more.
I’m pleased to share that my daughter who is now 15 years old successfully managed Advanced Math, with an excellent grade. On several of the graded events during the year, she got a top score. I love reminding her that a girl who’s not good at math could not have gotten a top score in advanced math.
I’ve greatly appreciated Gregory’s ability to adapt his approach to the specific needs as they have evolved over time, and I’m most grateful for the confidence my daughter has in herself for math, which had once felt an impossible challenge.
